start the car and runit until you hear the noise (warmup time) shut off the
engine
an disconnect the fan belt and restart the car. if the noise is gone, you have
narrowed it down to the waterpump, fan or alternator. the engine can run this
way
for a few minutes so drive it if you have to. ted
