Can somebody help identify a Spitfire wheel. It has a series of holes
around the perimeter of the inside like the Late Spitfire stock wheels,
but the hold are round instead of oval. the following is a description
of the markings.
If the wheel is positioned where the Valve hole is at 6:00 o'clock, the
inside raised sections are at 12, 3, 6 and 9.
On the 12 o'clock one is the stamp: ZMAJ.
On the 3 o'clock one is the stamp: 711 followed by an upside down
Mercedes star.
On the 6 o'clock one is the stamp: S4-86.
On the 9 o'clock one is the stamp: 4-1/2J13 and below that: H2.
The wheel looks to be fairly new and has only one coat of silver paint.
As I said, it was mounted on a Spitfire, so the holes line up, but it
may not actually be from a Spitfire originally. Can anyone identify
the mystery wheel?
Regards,
Joe
