I have a 1976 Spit and the cannister and bottle are mounted IN FRONT of the
radiator on the right (passenger) side. The cannister is mounted closest to
the radiator and the bottle directly in front of the cannister. The bottle
bracket is mounted to the front frame while the cannister bracket appears to
be mounted to the side rail that frames the radiator. Both the Haynes manual
and the British Leyland Repair Operation manual have very poor pictures, but
do show the orientation, but you have to use your imagination a bit.
