Sounds like a problem with the coil. In years past I worked as a
mechanic and what would happen is that the coil would fail after it
warmed up. Look at the coil for oil leakage, if there is oil coming
from the coil, replace it. If you have a test light, check the hot
terminals after it fails. If there is power there, but no spark coming
from the coil, replace the coil. Condenser is also a good bet, same
type of problem, but you'll need an ohmmeter to check resistance, better
off just replacing it along with the points. If there isn't power going
into the coil, blame Mister Lucas. You'll have to start working back
through the harness until you find the loose, corroded or burnt
connection/wire.

I am sure there has been something on this on either the Spitfire or the
Triumph list, but I would check your ignition circuitry, especially the
condenser and the coil. I would replace the condenser first as they are
cheap, then see if you can borrow a coil to substitute for yours as a
trial
if the replaced condenser doesn't sort the problem out. Are your points
set
to the right gap?
