Peter,
Of all the sheet metal I bought for my own 63 Spit restoration (and
trust me the number of pieces exceed the number of digits I have on
which to count), I can't say that I can really tell any difference in
the NOS and the repro stock. I basically got three different types:
1. NOS (Actually a trunk lid that was rescued from a Triumph dealer
that sold off inventory when closing down)
2. The usual old repro stuff (that you get from most suppliers)
3. The pieces that are marked with the ROVER logo.
The inner sills were type 3, the rest of the parts were type 2. All fit
well and seem to be of the same gauge steel.
So based on my experiences, I'd say shop for the cheapest prices.
I even saw some rocker panels in JC Whitney (after I already bought
mine)
BTW, the rocker panels from late Spits fit the early ones too,
regardless of whether or not the ad says so.
Regards,
Joe Curry
