I would have a look at your carbs again. They ain't HS-4's they sound
more like HIF's to me, I can't remember if they were just made in metric
HIF-33 and HIF-44 or wether they came in imperial HIF2 and HIF4. These
if they are what I think are a later design found on later Austin and MG
car's, first built post 1978 (not the old models that were still in
production). I would not think about the PVC whatever valves until you
have sorted out the type of carb, and inlet manifold. It may be if they
are HIF4's that you can use the normal UK mainifold. THese carbs are a
better design than the HS's and meeter the mixture better, they were
still put on UK car's until about the 1990's when cat's becane the legal
requirement. They were also were designed to keep up with the
emmissions requirements which were at the time getting tighter. You get
more power from a single one of thoes than you do with the single point
injection systems there now shoving into the car's.
Interestingly enough there is a HIF carb with a turbo atached. If
anyone know what type of input mainfold I need to stick that thing on
they I will be most happy.
Definaltly a worthwhile addition, and these carb's are a set it once and
leave it for 70K type.
