With credit to the John Kipping parts catalogue:
There are 3 ways to ID a dif.
1) Count the crown wheel teeth and divide by the pinion teeth
(i.e. c/wheel 39, pinion 9 = 39/9 = 3.8888)
2) Count the number of turns the front flange requires to turn the
output flanges 360 deg. (or one flange 720 deg.) This gives the ratio
- just over 3.5 turns = 3.63 etc.
3) Look at the casing:
TYPE A - Case ID G, Y, GA, FC to 120000
TYPE B - Case ID GE, FC from 120001
TYPE C - Case ID HB
TYPE D - Case ID FH, FK, FR, FD, HC, KC, KD
Unfortunately, I'd don't know what ratios the various case types are.
Hope this helps,
Pat

I'm trying to identify a GT6 differential and want to know how one
determines if they have a non overdrive dif with the 3.27 gear ratio?
Are there any unique ID marks or numbers to look for?
