Mark - I also like the water quick disconnects.  I put a shut off on the 
end of the hose before the coupler.  Something like SKU 442559 or 573076 
at http://www.homedepot.com

The shutoff lets me change attachments at the end of the hose without 
going back to the valve.  It also lets me turn down the pressure from 
the end of the hose.  I can also roll up the hose under pressure without 
the nozzle dragging across the ground.
