In that look under the hood, demonstrate the ritual of checking oil,
transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant and windshield washer
level. Show how to add as needed. With respect to filters, wipers and
such, advise to keep a notebook in the car of things serviced and when
(mileage and date) so to be able to knowingly and authoritatively tell
the oil change jockey "it's already done." Perhaps you can get a tire
dealer to give you some of the tread depth indicators to check tires.
Also, tire pressure, where & how to buy an inexpensive gage (another
donor item?) how to test, know what pressure is right, where to locate
recommendations, etc. (And if the tag isn't in the door, it's a cheap
repair job, so beware!!!)
