I haven't bothered to read all the replies, so if somebody has already
mentioned this, my apologies....
Two solutions:
A) Harbor Freight sells a pipe threading kit for about $40...if you want to
do it in steel pipe, this isn't much of an investment for an important
project like this.
B)Don't use regular PVC pipe...if it gets hit under pressure you will get
"fragged"....the better solution is to contact a large plumbing supply house
and have them provide you with some literature on "Air Chem"....this is a
special heavy duty green PVC pipe made specifically for airlines. It does
require their special primer and cement. The Air Chem System does have lots
of neat special items like "riser drops" that reduce the amount of water
getting to your tools.
Bottom line?.....the Air Chem is great but pricey if you want to do the job
right.....the cheap way is with black pipe and the Harbor Freight threader.

Subject: Air line piping
I know this has been beaten to death on this list but what the heck. I need
to run air lines in my new garage. I figure I have several choices:
1) Black iron pipe.
2) Copper lines
3) PVC lines
4) Some type of AL pipes that are sold for this purpose with quick
connects. I don't remember the name.
#1 is out since I don't have a pipe threader and don't intend to buy one. I
have used #2 before and it worked fine. I am leaning towards #3 since it
looks easiest. Anyone one have any opinions or ideas? Am I missing any
other choices? I am looking for something that will work and is somewhat
simple to install.
