On the subject of fence posts, how do you guys set your
posts?
I've always just used dirt and field stone and tamped them
in with the back of a shale bar. I know a lot of people use
cement to set fence posts but I've seen where the posts set
in cement rotted much worse then the ones set with dirt.
On one of those lawn & landscape sites, I read where guys
were claiming the best way to set posts was using clean
gravel. That it helps drain the water away from the posts
and that any movement of the post will actually tighten it.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of using gravel or has
used it and how it worked for them?
