Most table saws I've used have fences that travel the width of the table and
thus allow you to work on either side when the blade is upright. The
direction the arbor tilts will determine which side the fence needs to be on
when the blade is tilted, however -- you don't want to work with the blade
tilted toward the fence because you might trap the wood and get a bind and
kickback.
