I suspect they had very good quality race wheels and tires produced with
tight quality control. I static balance the wheels on my land-speed car as
well, since I have Moon discs on the outside, and have never had a problem
with them. I have also recently replaces three complete sets of tires on
brand new Chevy trucks that were so poorly manufactured (or damaged during
transport) that even with a machine that measures road force balance and
allows wheel to tire matching they could not be properly balanced.
