I have recently purchased a used Fowler Ultra-Cal electronic
caliper and need to replace the two batteries and now have some
conflict in what I see and what I learned.

I've talked with Fowler Technical Support and they were not
really a lot of help, seems this is an older unit and they really
didn't seem to be positive about anything. They did say that
it should take an Everyready 357 battery (they didn't mention
that there are TWO batteries under the cover!!). I bought a
single 357 battery (spec's immediately below) and have it
sitting on my desk.

Now then, I take the unit apart, ready to install my single new
Everyready 357 battery, and I discover that there are two
batteries inside, and neither are the 357 variety. Instead, I
find slightly different batteries marked A-76. As you can see
from their spec's, they have a different chemistry and a different
mah rating (Silver oxide vs. Manganese Dioxide and 175mah
vs. 150mah).

My long winded explanation proceeds my question...........
Does anyone own the same Fowler Ultra-Cal calipers?
I'm NOT INTERESTED in the later versions such as Ultra-Cal II,
III, VI or V. Only the Ultra-Cal electronic calipers.

If you do, would it be possible to check what batteries you're
using and/or check your operating manual or other document(s)
to determine what is the correct battery for the unit? Fowler cannot
supply me with any manuals or other information on this model. When
asked (via their web site) they were kind enough to fax me a copy of
the manual for their Ultra-Cal III which uses a totally different battery !!

Thanks for listening (reading) and any help that can be given.
