battery chargers/testers

My battery charger is on its last leg....

I also have a stack of batteries that are in unknown condition.

Does someone recommend a charger and tester combination?

or two units that work well...

Associated used to make one, but their rep has dwindled over the years, due 
to ease of repair issues.

any experience?
