Many others wrote I should go to the dealer. I had planned on going
at
lunch time anyway but I found those needle bearings late last night and
was
worried last night when I posted. Anyway, armed with the printout from

Wayne (Thank You) I went to my dealer. He had not heard of this problem

and took my printout and went and checked it out on the GM dealer site.

He then kindly explained to me that I was 4 months over my warranty of
36
months and 435 miles over my 36,000 mile warranty. It was not the
mileage
that I was too much on, he was willing to ignore that but it was the 4
months that was the problem. I talked to him for a few minutes (nicely)

but got nowhere and said thanks and went straight to the parts counter
to
check out the costs. Several people and some web sites strongly
recommended changing all 16 rockers since GM had a problem, why go
through
the labor and have to do it again. Well at $28 a rocker times 16, I can

tell you why change only the bad ones :)

While waiting for the parts guy to check on the pricing the service
manager walks up and makes me a "deal" GMC will pay the parts if I pay
half the labor.

Under $200 (just under) and I get all 16 new rockers, they also pull
the
pan and flush out the engine to get any remaining needle bearings...I
went
for it :)

So thanks for all your help...looks like this list saved me $300 (if I

did all 16 rockers) and a day of work on my non-fun car. Now I get to
spend that day working on my fun car, a 1934 Singer instead of this
nightmare motor. I imagine a few hours just to get the junk off to get
to
the rockers on that thing.

  Thanks Everyone !!!

         Mike
