This may or may not help...
A few years ago, I repaired a stripped insert which holds the rear trailing arm
on a 914.
I found something called "Fix-a-thread" (I think, made by Loctite) at a NAPA
auto store.
It's supposed to be able to take up to something like 70lb. ft of torque.
Rather than
tapping, I think I put the material on a bolt, and threaded it into the
remainders of the
original threads. It's still holding strong, although I put in a much longer
bolt and put
a locknut on the end of it, just in case.
