Greetings all,
Well, it finally happened...my old, hand-me-down air compressor pump blew.
Of course this happened right in the middle of a project requiring
compressed air - I was using my DA sander on some sheet metal.
Anyway, the pump changed pitch in sound and made a bunch of new noise before
I ran over and switched it off, so I assume the pump is blown...
OK...here's my question:
The unit is a 5hp 60gallon (upright tank) single stage (90psi) setup.
The pump is what appears to be a generic two cylinder unit;
Now...can I replace this pump with some other, more powerful unit? ( more
PSI & CFM output) or do I need to stick with the same basic type? A simple
straight-across replacement wouldn't bother me, but an upgrade is an
upgrade, right?
I seek your collective wisdom here - This is a great list and its' about
time I was able to ask a good question of it!
Thanks all - hope your weekend is going well.
Cheers
Thom Kuby
