I'm not sure that it's your eyes... it seems that oil is
getting clearer.  It's also geting thinner, so there is less
oil on the dipstick and less of a meniscus to see.

Just let it get dirty, then you'll be able to see it. :-)

Too bad you can't get the dye that they use.

I haven't done it, but it shouldn't cause a problem.
It's probably higher grade stuff than the oil
that's already in there.

Sometimes I use a paper shop towel to help me
'see' where the oil starts on the dipstick.
It's easy to see the paper get dark when it starts
wicking up oil.
