-> Does anyone know of a ready to install type of swing open double
-> door, which would be suitable for garage use?

I copied a design I saw at a local airport. My bay door openings were
8x8 feet. I used two 8' sheets of 1/4" birch plywood on spruce frames,
four hinges, two hardware store pulleys, and some wire rope. The door
folds upward, like you were scratching your armpit. The pulleys and
wire rope run over to an old Chevy cylinder head that acts as a
counterweight.

The door worked okay, but it was a hassle to raise, since you had to
push the bottom out where it dragged against the jambs. I finally
replaced the jambs with two pieces of 1" angle iron welded into a
channel on each side and a small wheel running in the channel, bolted to
the door. Now I can open or close them one-handed.

Not the fanciest thing in the world, and the useable opening is only a
little over six feet since the door takes some room at the top, but it
was one hell of a lot cheaper than any of the prefab doors around here.
And they cost me less than fifty bucks each, complete.
