Having just posted that I sometimes abuse my tools, I _have_ to disagree

If I bought a tool that was guaranteed only for "normal usage", then I
wouldn't ask for a replacement after I broke it by abusing it. I agree,
that's cheating.
HOWEVER, the Craftsman much advertised guarantee states "If it breaks for
any reason ... we'll replace it.". Expecting them to honor their stated
terms is not cheating.
Re : bodily injury, I'd have to say I'm much less likely to injure myself
when deliberately abusing a tool, because I worry more about "what if...".
Injuries happen when I'm doing the same thing I've done a 100 times
before, and not paying attention.
