Brad, Bob, Barre and others:

On the overdrive unit which I've mentioned as being surplus to my needs:

I found the ID plate on the OD unit:

it says: serial no. 28/60572/003813

I also dug into the "Victoria British" catalogs for TR 6 and for the
Spitfire/GT6.

What I have doesn't 'xactly match up with A, D, or J . . at least judging by
the rear case drawing.

What I have seems to be:

rear case assembly complete with annulus, bearings and coupling flange
planet carrier assembly
gear assy, speedometer
brake ring
unidentified adapter, not like the A, D, or J units in the Victoria
catalogs.
various other parts, pistons, springs, etc.

Missing is the main case assembly

The diameter (brake ring) measures about 7 1/2"
The length is 10" or less, judging from the adapter bolt length.

Any ideas?

Tony
