Once again, the problem is not with the design but in 'production'
tolerances.  Taiwan is filled with one-room machine shops that turn out
specific components.  There is a lot of variation machine-to-machine.

Most of this is repairable.  By definition a person buying this stuff is
handy, so go for it.
