I started out with a import MIG welder and thought I was never going to
be able to learn to weld. After it
conked out ( much sooner than it should have ), I got a Lincoln unit for
a little more money, hey , I can weld.
The difference between learning on a machine that never worked right and
a quality one are immense.
I wish I had coughed up a few dollars more the first time and got the
Lincoln. My experience is that
the import machines are junk , and don't weld well, and make learning
even harder. I would say get a
quality unit, Lincoln, Hobart, Miller, even if you have to get a used
one instead of new.
