Bob,

I went with a Toyota steering box and was able to than use a generator/power
steering pump like the one you mention for the tri-fives. Here are links to
two of the pages on my website that shows the setup:

The pump drives the steering box just fine. The box mounts very close to
the original steering box location and allowed me to keep the original
steering column. The shop was able to also mount the column without cutting
the firewall. This was done by cutting a small slit in the side of the
steering column where it passes through the firewall to allow it to align
with the steering box. A Borgenson steering coupling joint was used to
connect the steering shaft directly to the steering box.

The system is clean and works well. The whole steering box kit can be
purchased from ABS Power Brake (http://www.abspowerbrake.com/). While the
generator/power steering unit doesn't come with the kit you could also use
a later model power steering pump if you preferred.

I hope this helps. Good luck on your project!
