[oletrucks] need info on 48-53 3/4 and one ton rears...

i have been told the center section third member from 67-72 3/4 ton pickup  
is direct replacement for my 48 one ton.  my one ton has a 5.57 gear and i  
want to go to a 3.70-4.10 ratio.  does anyone have info on these? who sells  a 
ring and pinion for my one ton.?  or is there another newer rear which  will 
fit 
under the truck?  why wont the 55-66 chev 3/4 ton rear work  ?  jerry in
