I need help from all you "old-timers" as I have two "experts" (1 is working
on my engine problem that the other one created). The problem is bigger
than this but one of the issues is a "p#$%%-ing" match between the two of
them about whether or not the rings move and rotate while the engine is
in motion. Each agrees that the ring openings should start out at approx.
40-60 degrees apart but when the head was pulled off we found 4 of the 6
cylinders with the rings aligned with the openings directly in line with
each other. One of the guys says this is a rookie mistake and the other
says that through movement it is always a possibility that there alignment
can occur and it's no big deal. Any insights on this would be greatly
appreciated
as the issue is much bigger than this, but this is one area of contention.
Thanks,
Michael Mendonca
