Maybe because the water was so cool. I am use to seeing the water in my 55
circulate, it moves along rather quickly compared to the 97.
I worked on a friends S-15 (GMC) with a 4-cylinder engine that also did not
circulate well. As a matter of fact it overheated regularly. The normal fixes
were tried without success. When we pulled the water pump, the "stamped
steel" impeller was nearly rusted away! This was the factory water pump and
the
truck was only about 3 years old with under 40K miles. It also used Dex-cool.
Might explain your lack of circulation.
