I'm putting a new transmission in my 53 3100.
I've got a small hiccup with the shift linkage.
I want to retain the column shifter, but the new transmission is not setup for
the
same shifter orientation. The stock linkage
(http://users.ticnet.com/lcorley/TFC/53/linkage.jpg) uses a bellcrank and has
the
2-3 lever pointed up. There is a groove milled on the bottom of the trans
shifter
shaft to accommodate the upward pointing lever. My later trans has the groove
on
the top of the shaft to accommodate a downward pointing lever.
I can modify the shaft or fabricate a lever, but before I spent the time and
effort, I wanted to check with this group. Someone may know of a trick of maybe
there's a vendor who has already addressed this.
How about it? Anybody have an opinion on my best path from here?
Second question.
I need a driveshaft for this truck.
57-59 inches with a 16-spline front yoke.
I know I'm not the first person down this path, so what are good donor vehicles
to
look under?
Finally -- Is anyone going to the SW swap meet this weekend an the Ball Park in
Arlington, Texas?
I'll be there on Saturday, wearing my ole-trucks uniform T-shirt.
Flag me down and say hi.
Thanks in advance.
