The earliest trucks had the fuel tank mounted under the bed. The rails were
different on those to allow more room for the tank. There may be other
differences too, but I don't know.

The metal rails that go under the wood on the bed in a '54 are listed as
being different from those for previous years. I have a couple of them
from my '50 that I would like to use on the '54. What's the difference
between the '54 and the '50?
