S U C C E S S !!!!! Test drove with trailer today. got up to 60 mph for 10
minutes, stopped at light, got up to 60 mph again, etc., etc. and the temp
never went above 190 degrees! A 40 degree difference!
Final solution was a new aluminum rad from Griffin.
http://griffinrad.com/1949-1960.htm Very pretty! It's a stock "look-a-like"
and fits right into the original mounts. This rad was not cheap @ $630
including the "Griffin" emblem rad cap but man does it cool! It's rated for a
600 HP racing engine. The only negative, besides the cost, was the width of
the rad body, not the bracket mounts, which was slightly smaller than the
original rad width. I had to modify my shroud to fit it.
Thanks guys for all your help!

Cooling update.... Went on our first camping trip..the "shakedown cruz", and
we are running 15 degrees cooler but not where we want to be...under 45 mpg
205 degrees...over 50 mpg 230 degrees.

soooo..it looks like we need to get the last item on the list done that being
the rad re-cored. My question before I get it done is..should I use the
original rad housing for the job or not. I would like to keep the original.
Thanks very much. Wayne '47 1 Ton Panel
