Old Jeeps on the ole-truck list...heresy!

Actually I like the Willys wagons alot as well as our old GM trucks and would
like one
myself some day but have too many projects as it is for now. There's also a
Willys list
that you might want to join.

In the meantime:

1--any chance that the distributor is 180 degrees out of phase? ie, trying to
fire on
the exhaust stroke instead of the compression/power stroke transition. You
would have
to turn the distributor seriously to get it to run if it is and then it
wouldn't run
right.

2--any chance that the spark plug wires are backwards per which end is cylinder
1 and
which is 4? admittedly this is a stretch....

3--it has stamped marks on the timing gears so you can't get the valve timing
off? if
it is not item #1, it sounds like the valve timing isn't right.

4--1951....is this a 6vdc or a 12vdc system? I'm not up on the older Jeeps.
Is the
spark that you do get weak or good?
