I think that is called the scrub line, and I'd say its still pretty
important...
Measurements on my drawing suggest its about 2 inches lower than yours. I'm
going to move it up.

i used to think that there was some sort of basic height dictaed by the
distance from the bottom of the rim to the lowest body part on the car. the
idea being that if you lost your tire pressure, you wouldnt scrape.
BTW-bill-your truck isnt low and the corvette comparision is correct,
measure a honda or saturn or any import/compact. youll get the same reading.
the only thing over 5-6 inches is a SUV.
btw- steve, my panel is off the ground;
13.5 to center of rear bumper
8.5 to bottom of front fenders
9 to center of front bumper
6.5 to bottom of front end of running boards.
