Getting my new engine started from scratch with a HEI dist and coil.
Looking to wire up ignition only just to ensure the engine is running OK
prior to installing any sheet metal, etc. I'm using a single wire
alternator, GMC 270, 12V system. I'm starting with no existing wire. I
have a new harness but don't plan to install until further along in the
project. I believe I have the basic ignition hooked up correctly. Engine
cranks over OK but doesn't indicate any oil pressure, glass bowl on fuel
pump not filling and doesn't appear to be any spark. Even if out of time I
should have spark. I've hooked up some cheap gauges, oil, amp, temp, to
monitor the vitals.
Next move is to try priming the oil pump with the drill process, right?
Shouldn't my fuel bowl be filling after cranking over several times? I'm
using a gas can and filter to feed the pump.
Does anyone have a simple HEI diagram?
