I finally got my truck on the road this weekend, after 3 yrs of restoration
and drove it 200 miles to my home from my friends garage. Everything was
fine even got 16 mpg with a modified 350.

The problem was with my shifter from Patricks. It kept getting hung up in
2nd and in reverse. This past weekend we must have adjusted it 5 or 6
times and even took the side cover off the tranny to see if everything was
ok in the case. It was. The problem is similar to that described by IDPHR
back in May.

If you come out of 2nd normally , the shifter will jamb. You are stuck in
2nd gear but the shifter is not in 2nd gear, it is stuck between 2nd and
neutral. You can get it unjammed, normally, by trying to get back into 2nd
and then shift up as if you are going back into 1st but do not go all the
way in and then come back down a bit to nuetral and shift into 3rd. If you
smack the shifter knob up towards nuetral and then shift into 3rd it would
usually work. However, on my last drive of the day, it got stuck between
2nd and neutral and there was nothing I could do but get underneath the
truck and use a screwdriver to lerage the shifting 2nd gear shift arm back
into neutral. After some playiing with the shifter stick, I found neutral
again and was able to get home with only minor hang ups.

The problem with reverse is the same except that the only way to get it out
of gear is to get underneat and use a screwdriver to leverage the shift arm
into neutral.

Very frustrating and nerve racking. I am going to call Patricks this
morning but based on IDPHR's posting in May, I should not expect a solution
from that quarter.

IDPHR, how, or did, you solve your problem, short of going to an automatic?

Any suggestions, comments, solutions, etc.

Also, after 3 yrs I need to put my windshield trim on but forgot how the
center piece, along with the rear view mirror attaches. The rubber seal
around the windshield has 3 holes in it that match up with holes in the
inside metal strip that splits the two windshields that looks like screws
go through and hold the inside and outside center strip in. Any insights?

It really felt good to drive it after 3 years of work.

Thanks
