According to John Gunnells' "Chevrolet Pickups" book, in 1959 Chevy offered a
Trademaster 283 V-8 option (8.5:1 compression, a 2 barrel carb, 160 hp @ 4200
rpm and 275 pounds-feet of torque), but no V-6.
Maybe when you get the chance to view the truck, you can check to see if it's
the V-8.
