..it's been many years since I took trigonometry but surely the
relationship is a function of the distance between the pivot point and
the distributor shaft cam and the length of the points arm. I'd be
quite surprised to find that there's *one* relationship between dwell
angle and points gap, which is why both are usually listed in the book
by application...where some nerd has already done the math.

Cam angle, or dwell, is the number of degrees of cam rotation from
the
instant the ignition breaker points close until they open again. It is
controlled entirely by the width of the breaker point gap. Decreasing
the
width of the breaker point gap, increases the cam angle/dwell.
I couldn't find a conversion chart, but if you have a point gap of
.019 the
dwell will be 30 degrees. If the gap is .015 the dwell will increase
to 42
degrees. Hope this helps.
