Hey Guys
In regards to the 6 volt starter that is in your truck. Leave it in and
forget about the 12 volt starter. The 12 volt starter is set up with a
different sized starter drive and the flywheel on the 12 volt engines is
also different. The starter drive on the 12 volt starter does not mesh well
with the 6 volt flywheel and tends to skip. The 6 volt starter that you
have is extremely overbuilt and it is extremely doubtful that you will burn
it out. Mine has been in the truck since I rebuilt it the truck,
approximately 12,000 miles back, and the 6 volt starter works without
problem. The nice thing about it is that the 6 volt starter on 12 volts
spins the motor over nice and fast.
