Well, I loaned Sparky ('54 3100) to my wife to haul hay last week, any way,
long story short she called me from steep driveway with 10 wet bales in the
back and the 3 speed tranny stuck in third. Asked how she got up the drive
way that far in 3rd (well you know the answer). Anyway after crawling
underneath and freeing the linkage up by hand (ouch those fenton headers can
heat up those pipes), I got it back to shifting fine. But when engaging first
gear and letting the clutch out the whole thing shakes until it starts
rolling and then settles down, (shifts at apeed to 2nd or 3rd are fine, not
shaking). Appreciate any thoughts, my view is a.) Throw Out Bearing, b.)
Clutch or Pressure Plate warped) (wife said she thought she smelled something
buring when going up the driveway). Any thoughts from list members
appreciated, and how difficult is that to work on and replace (the clutch
stuff not my wife)?
