Hello guys-
I have an opportunity to buy some new rear wheels for my truck at a pretty
good price. However, I have concerns about if they're going to fit. What I
need to know, is how wide (outside sidewall to outside sidewall) the rear
wheels/tires/axle combo can be, and still fit inside a stock set of task
force step-side rear fenders. The measurement I'm looking for is probably
around 70 inches. Any of you rodders, with tires that fit, got an 8ft dial
caliper handy? :-)
I've got a narrowed frame, have a pretty good idea what the outboard
suspension components width is going to be, and can tub the bed so that the
suspension *is* the inside limitation. I will have the axle narrowed to
suit... The wheels I'm looking at are 15X15's though, which still might be a
bit tight. The tires I'd run on them would be M/T 31X18.5X15 Sportsmans (or
Hoosier/Phoenix/Goodyear equivalents), which have a sidewall width of ~18".
The limiter looks to be the rear lower corner of the wheel well opening...

(hopefully a shameless plug will keep them from suing me)
is a picture that approximates what I'm shooting for:
