I sne the front drums off for my 54 3100 and had them drilled.  The company is
CH Topping and they have been doing this to brake drums since the 50s.  The
cost is $35 a drum plus shipping -- the drilled drums are supposed to shed
water like a disk setup does and prevent overheating.  I'll know soon as I get
the whole thing together. I'm thinking of sending off the back drums since the
front is already done.
