No such luck. The 54 was the first year to use a curved windshield. I
haven't looked into prices for replacing it (mine is quite pitted), but I
don't think "low cost" can be used to describe the windshield.

The 54 and 55 1st series have a different grill than earlier models.

As far as I can tell, finding parts for my 54 hasn't been all that hard.
The Chevy Duty catalog has a list of all of the changes from year to year,
and I think some folks' web sites linked off of www.chevytrucks.org have
those lists as well. The major differences I've noticed between the 54
and earlier AD trucks are the grill, the windshield, the placement of the
radio, and the flat (vs. 45-degree angled) top of the bed.
