Does your 216 have insert bearings. If it does I think it would hold up better
to
higher rpm's. My preference is OD tranny's with around a 3.90 rear. My opinion
of
the 3.55 rear is that it's a compromise. It gives you a tolerable RPM on the
highway but poking along a back road at 30 may leave you wishing you had the
4.11. My .76 5th gear turns my 235 2200 RPM at 65 yet I still have the regular
gears for slower speeds.
