Don't mind at all, if you don't mind my being wrong :-) Just kidding.

Not all will carry it. I know you can get one through harbor freight. They
have a web page

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/taf/DisplayItem.taf?ItemNumber=32520

lists for $2.99. I am not sure, but might be a misprint, if not, a GREAT buy.
Expect to pay around $20 + at NAPA

I would expect so

I would think this would be necessary when INSTALLING, not removing. Is it
necessary with an installation? I think so. I ended up borrowing a tranny part
from a friend when getting my clutch properly aligned. As I recall, it was the
front shaft out of a trashed tranny. This in essence, was the equivalent of
creating the same situation as if an actual tranny were there, ie. same
diameter, same grooves, etc. I think it is necessary to get everything to align
properly before final bolting.

I did it by the manual and if that is what it says, then that is probably what I
did. I would think this is to keep from warping the disc. If memory serves, I
also had to do likewise when installing the clutch, ie. tightening each bolt a
bit at a time so the pressure was spread out pretty evenly around the clutch.

Well I don't know about valued, but I am glad to be back.

Last thing I'll say. I knew absolutely nothing about
cars/trucks/engines/trannies, etc when I started. I found that the manual was
right on once I understood what it was saying, and oftentimes, that didn't
become clear until I actually got INTO the chore at hand. I DID read and reread
and reread again and again before I started. Maybe that was overkill, but
sometimes with subsequent reads, things became clear. I literally must have
read the entire chapter on engines and trannies, etc. at least three times each
before ever getting started. Sometimes, what was not clear in one section,
finally became clear after reading something else further on in the manual.
Hope this helps.
