Update.
Yesterday afternoon I picked up the starter which needed a new pinion assembly
and installed it in the TR-6. Then put the trans in neutral and started the
engine. All went well . Then I bolted up the drive shaft to the trans. No
issues. Then filled the hydraulic system of the clutch. Put the trans in
neutral and fired up the engine again. Pushed in the clutch and lo and behold
I was able to shift easily into each gear. Hurrah! I did not try anything
else. The front of the TR is still up on jack stands and the rear wheels are
on the concrete. I still have under the car work to get the back up light
connections in as well as the speedo cable and mount the hydraulic drain unit
to the bell housing and get the rest of the connecting bolts on the bell
housing.
Pretty confident that all go well from now on.
I'd be working on it this afternoon except Pia and I are off to Sonoma for a
Crosby Stills and Nash concert at eight. I sailed with Crosby immediately
after his release from a Texas prison. Quarter pound of coke and a 357 in his
lap put him there. I was first mate in Santa Barbara in the 70s and 80s on
Gallant a 74 ft. staysail schooner owned by my friend Larry at the time. We
were out in the Channel when Cros showed up alongside in a Radon and begged
us to take him sailing. He knew Larry form previous encounters. We took him
out every weekend for one glorious summer. I took a lot of pictures but
haven't seen him since. I'm printing up a couple of great photos of him and
the Gallant crew during that period. Going to see if I can get back stage and
give them to him. Should be a hoot. He is a very strange character.
But I digress. If all goes well I will be ready for the next ride. OH Frabjous
Joy! This is the longest period for the TR to be out of service in it's life
as far as I can recall. The fact that it fired up near immediately is a good
sign.
Have fun at Sears Point all. Still can't get used to Infineon Raceway.
See you soon.
Deano
