I'm pretty sure that that brack is correct. I have 2 different rear fenders
(wings) on my 65. The original 65 rear fender has that reinforcment along
the entire length. I also have a new factory fender, circa 69, which I
bought when my car was totalled (the 3rd day I owned it - in 69). This
newer fender doesn't have it all the way around. It is only in a couple
of spots.
