As a coincidence, the Porsche 914 list on rennlist.com just had a thread
on this subject.  Specifically,  K&N filters against the stock paper
filters.  From what I got out of the exchange, there was a small
increase in airflow and power from the K&N filters at the expense of
increased dirt in the engine.
