I thought the jerky motion was common to all Smith's speedo's. Clockwork or
not. Oh, I know it's not, just teasing.
Seriousley though, does anyone know the secret to calibrating these things?
I know how they work and have had them apart numerous times. But how do you
compensate for changes in gear ratios? The little fiber gears only cover the
odometer portion and not the speed indication. Is it the amount of magnetism
imparted on the magnet or what? You can only move the magnet so close to the
disc.
I do not wish to "send it away" to be calibrated, so who knows what the
secret is?
