My good friend Noel Hamilton bought a new Plus 8 a couple of years ago
through Cantab. It is exhibiting a rather annoying problem no doubt
computer/electronic related that the local Rover dealer cannot seem to
diagnose. Cantab is some distance and has not been able to provide much of
an answer either. The car seems to drop several cylinders when slipped into
gear and begins to move. Reving the engine at a standstill does not seem to
cause this malady. When the engine exhibits this performance deficit the
speedo fluctuates wildly our of proportion to the creeper speed the car is
traveling. The Morgan is almost unusable at this point and would require the
expertise of someone knowledgeable of the systems in current models. The
factory supplied a fix that rerouted several wires away from the starter, but
after installation this evening, we found no improvement.
Has anyone got some suggestion or experience with these later cars that might
explain this situation.
Thanks,
S. Stierman 69 plus 8 (one I can fix)
