When my Morgan was delivered it turned out to be
filled with tiny spiders and millions of little
webs. They not only infested my garage, but also
the InterCity truck that brought the car (no tears
for them after all the hassles it took to get the
car delivered).
I had to use several Raid bombs to clean the place
out. It worked like a charm and didn't leave much
of a film on the car. The cockroach bombs handle
spiders as well.

Cats were also my first thought (we adopted a stray that had its tail
removed by a fan belt one winter) but another idea is a flourescent
drop light. The flourescent doesn't produce enough warmth to make
things cozy and the bright light discourages vermin from settling
easily.
Add to that an occasional flash from a xenon flash tube (Radio Shack
might have a timed device of some sort). Could be a new garage
accessory product in the making here...
